Creator's Notes: The Apple Tower is written with the editorial requirements of any standard, printed newspaper in mind. The result, therefore, is a comic strip that is very family friendly, but geared as much toward adults as children.
Creator Bio: Brian Barnett's first milestone as a cartoonist came in 1988 when he was 13-years-old. He mailed several cartoons to the premier newspaper in his area, but after waiting several months and getting no reply, he reluctantly gave up hope that anything would come from it. However, things turned around and his dream finally came true when, one day, out of the blue, one of his submitted cartoons was published.
In 1996 and 1997 he achieved regular publication in two local newspapers. Later, he devoted time towards submitting ideas to the newspaper syndicates.
In 2004 he began developing an idea called 'The Apple Tower', which combined certain features from his previous ideas. It would be an ode to small hometowns. The strip finally premiered on November 23, 2009, after months of design and preparation.
The Apple Tower (theappletower.com) features daily black & white strips, a full-color Sunday strip which is published on Saturdays, and for comic aficionados, the rough, penciled version of the Sunday strip appears on Sunday.
