Creator's Notes: My goal is to keep my comic "newspaper safe", so I thought I should expand on the Content Elements:
Suggestive or revealing clothing- Having worked on a syndicated strip such as "Nancy" propriety issues were VERY stringent and having a pretty character like Aunt Fritzi did create some dialog on the matter. My strip has plans for a "pretty" character. Although she wears a waitress uniform MOST of the time, she may from time to time wear shorts, a mini-skirt, show her belly button or go to the beach.
Comic Violence- Ralf often gets beat up or injured in a comical fashion, this often entails tests of manhood, "Popeye" style brawls and him getting thrown through a windows. There may also be some occasional laser gun charring and the character Ray may get slapped or beat up for being a jerk.
Depictions of legal substances- Kaiser (the manly man) drinks beer socially, but never to drunkenness. Ray on the other hand is a debaucherous soul, he smokes and drinks to excess, but his activities are in no way glorified.
Creator Bio: I published my first weekly comic strip at the age of fifteen, many years passed and I got married and had a family. However, I returned to professional cartooning in 2001, a large portion of this time was working on United Features' "Nancy" drawing and inking backgrounds and coloring the Sunday funnies. For two years during this period, I also produced a weekly Inspirational comic feature called "Solomon Road" which was syndicated by DBR Media. I have since also developed a feature for syndication, have been working on all-ages graphic novels and worked as a caricature artist.
